Our goal for all our collections is to design pieces that really resonate, that fit your lifestyle, and strike a chord with your personal style. Ever since the pandemic, when we were holed up indoors for months on end, we’ve been thinking about doing an active wear line; one that could sweat through a yoga class and also hit the farmer’s market after.
“We all switched to comfort in 2020, so I started to really research doing active wear that was also functional, comfortable while still being seriously chic,” says Theresa McAllen, VP of Design. “These pieces are also designed to play with our other Johnny Was core styles so it’s also very versatile.” Here’s a sneak peek at our newest collection.
“What we wear out of the gym, is almost as important as what we wear in the gym,” says Theresa. “We sourced the softest knits for our joggers and zip-up tops, and since chilly days are definitely ahead, there are also some cool puffer jackets and coats.” The Paizy Vest is a favorite at our design studios, cozy and reversible with a paisley on one side and soft floral on the other.
For our recent catalog shoot we styled it with the Betzy Favorite Crew Neck Tee and the result is a fun clash of print and color. “These are meant to be sophisticated but also functional,” adds Theresa. Another favorite layer is the Cheetah Laurie Jacket, which is also reversible and perfect after class, or layered over our new Noah Trouser and Valentina Long Sleeve Bishop Tee.
Whether it’s Pilates or a morning meetup hike with friends, or just a busy weekend of running errands our JW Active is designed to work with you and your lifestyle.
Workout clothes have come a long way, and have become key pieces in our wardrobe. Nowadays, we want styles that are flattering, have a great fit and also look good in and out of the gym.
“Our leggings and bra tops are crafted from a medium compression fabric that really holds you in, has an amazing stretch but never feels restrictive,” says Theresa.
One of our top-selling prints is featured on the Dreamer Bee Active Racer Back Sports Bra and Dreamer Track Pant, as well as the Dreamer Yoga Set so your mat will look as cool as you as you stretch into your sun salutations.
To make the function even more versatile, many of the sports bras like the Black Rose Bee Active Reversible Sports Bra are fully reversible, offering two different print options, depending on your mood.
As well as doing good for your body and soul, we’ve also partnered with Planet Bee, a San Francisco-based environmental education nonprofit, on a mission to illuminate kids and adults about the need for bee conservation, critical for our natural ecosystem.
A portion of all JW Active proceeds will be going to Planet Bee and their fantastic Adopt-A-School program, and we will be helping to enable children and teens to get hands-on experience with bees, as well as to champion their critical role in nature.
“Bees, both honey and native, are critical for their services of our agriculture and natural ecosystem. Honey bees are responsible for pollinating about 1/3 of the food we eat, but also other crops like cotton, olive and sunflower oil, and other crops like clover and alfalfa that feed livestock,” says Debra Thomaszewski, founder of Planet Bee.

Returns & Exchanges
In an effort to ensure you get the correct product as quickly as possible, we recommend you place a new order right away and follow the returns process for the item you no longer want. At this time, there is no full service exchange option.
To start your return process, simply Click Here to begin or log in to your Johnny Was account. Then place a new order for your preferred item or size from our site. For exchange orders, return shipping fees can be waived by simply providing our Customer Care team with your new order number.
Once we’ve received your return, we will refund the purchase amount to your original form of payment.

In-Store Purchases
Purchases made in-store may be returned to any of our Johnny Was Retail Locations. (excludes Johnny Was Outlets) Please note that for in-store returns, the original form of payment will be required.

Returning Beauty & Wellness products?
Due to the nature of this product type, all beauty and wellness merchandise must be returned sealed, unused, and in their original brand packaging within 14 days of delivery. Products that have been opened, used, damaged, or altered in any way are not eligible for return and may be sent back to the customer.
Our Return Policy
Merchandise purchased at full price or standard markdown may be returned for a full refund to the original payment method or exchanged within 30 days of the delivery date. All merchandise purchased at 50% off or more is considered final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
All items being returned must be unworn, unwashed, and unaltered with original tags intact and returned in its original packaging. Swimwear must be returned with the protective lining in place and show no signs of wear. For sanitary reasons, please try on swimwear over your underwear.
Please note, merchandise purchased from other retailers, including department stores or specialty stores must be returned to the store from which it was originally purchased, and is subject to the return policy of the originating retailer.
Johnny Was reserves the right to deny a return or refund if the merchandise does not meet the terms and conditions of our Return and Exchange Policy. Items that do not meet the policy’s terms and conditions, may be returned to you.

We have been advised by all major carriers that some customers may experience delays due to increased volume and updates to staffing. While this might mean packages are taking a little longer than normal to arrive, they are still being delivered successfully. For additional details on the transit path, we recommend contacting the courier directly.

PROCESSING AND STATUS
Orders are shipped business days only, Monday through Friday. Johnny Was does not process or ship orders on Saturday, Sunday or company observed holidays. Expedited orders placed after 9am PST may not ship until the following business day.
Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email providing your tracking number and carrier information. Orders containing multiple items may be split across multiple shipments and may not be shipped on the same day.
Johnny Was partners with multiple shipping carriers. Information regarding any backordered or out-of-stock items will be sent in a separate email.
DOMESTIC SHIPPING
Your order will ship with Standard Ground unless an alternative is selected at checkout. Shipping estimates are provided by the carrier and Johnny Was is not responsible for any unanticipated delays. During the holidays our processing and shipping times may vary.
Standard ground shipping to PO Box and APO/FPO Box addresses is available. Unfortunately, we cannot offer expedited shipping for these locations at this time.
If an invalid address is provided, there may be a delay in the processing and delivery of your order. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable.
*We are unable to guarantee expedited shipping for all addresses being delivered to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. As carrier availability to remote addresses may be limited. If we are notified by the carrier that they are unable to expedite to your address, you will be contacted before your order ships.

Tracking information is available by visiting the carrier’s website. Once there, enter your tracking number and review the most up-to-date information regarding your package. For international orders, please visit www.dhl.com to retrieve the most up-to-date information.
